Oral Chinese
Beginner A
Course Length36 hours
Optional TextbooksChinapax textbook and supporting materials
Entry LevelThis course is for those who have no knowledge in Chinese or who know just a few simple Chinese words.
Learning Objectives6 hours phonetic learning to master the basic rules of pinyin pronounciation. Daily conversation around 10 different topics, training everyday listening and speaking ability (e.g. daily life, greetings, shopping, taking a taxi, etc.).
Beginner B
Course Length48 hours

Entry LevelBeginner A OR those who have some basic oral skills and prerequisites in other courses.
Learning ObjectivesImmersion in Chinese using fairly complex sentences to enable communication with local people, introduction of simple local slang and proverbs, expansion of the Beginner A topic areas focusing on practical language skills in order to facilitate more complex communication (e.g. broken down car, hotel reservations).
Intermediate A
Course Length36 hours
Optional Textbooks“Talk about Pictures”
Entry LevelThose who have a full grasp of Beginner A and B, OR those who possess the ability to converse in sentences
Learning ObjectivesDevelopment of the ability to use some level of sentence
structure to describe pictures and explain a complete story as told by pictures. Focuses on the ability to express a long passage.
Intermediate B
Course Length36 hours
Optional TextbooksTopics and themes will be selected together with the students based on the student’s interests, profession and focus.
Entry LevelThose who have completed studying the “Talk about Pictures” text book OR who can converse freely about specific topics and give a presentation about their work or a topic; equivalent to 1/2 – 1 year of university level Chinese.
Learning ObjectivesThis course uses a variety of techniques such as conversing about media events, radio, bbs and blogs, TV shows and films. These topics will be taught in practice using actual media material. The goal is develop the ability to express in-depth one’s opinions and views.
Advanced B
Course Length54 hours
Optional TextbooksSelf-compiled selection of subjects
Entry LevelAdvanced A; equivalent to 1-2 years of university level Chinese
Learning ObjectivesDevelop the ability to express oneself in a formal setting and to articulate simple oral reports. Focuses on paragraph style and more complex oral expression. The course covers specifics like business, trade, stock market and management language. These topics will be taught in practice drawing upon a variety of contemporary media events and prevalent topics in the news.
Chinese Characters
Beginner A
Course Length38 hours

Entry LevelThose who want to learn Chinese characters quickly in a modern and exciting way.
Learning ObjectivesTo learn 10 Chinese characters and 20 phrases that go along with each character per lesson.
The goal is to master 70 radicals and 380 characters by the end of the course. Course instruction includes the use of QQ, MSN or any other SNS or IM client (e.g. facebook, renren.cn) in order to learn how to type characters in a computer. Students will be able to write an essay of 600 words after 5 weeks of study.
Beginner B
Course Length60 hours

Entry LevelBeginner A OR those who have mastered 70 basic Chinese radicals and 380 Chinese characters.
Learning ObjectivesThe radical grouping method, which is unique to our school, is a fast and understandable way of learning Chinese characters. The comparison of similarly shaped characters as well as comparison of the homophones enable students to master an additional 600 Chinese characters in 6-8 weeks.
By the end of the Beginner A and Beginner B courses, the student masters around 1,000 Chinese characters. 1000 covers more than 90% of Chinese characters used in everyday oral communication. This means that by the conclusion of course A and B students will be able to read simple newspaper articles and write at that level.

Entry LevelThose who have regular access to a computer and the Internet and cannot easily engage in face-to-face learning programs due to working or other constraints.
Learning ObjectivesBy using our own exclusively designed interactive Chinese learning software, this course focuses on advancing the student’s pronunciation. The software program analyzes pronunciation flaws and corrects them, and provides a detailed summary of the student’s abilities and improvement. Students can learn at any time and at any place.

Entry LevelThose who are preparing for the HSK test.
Learning ObjectivesTo guide students prepare for HSK examination. Participating in this course will increase HSK scores in short time and help students pass HSK exam easily.
